So I like the show. Moving on.
Recently Joe has clearly been annoyed with his colleagues at MSNBC and in the News media as a whole. I caught a couple of these skirmishes on air and am just so glad that he will not back down on his opinion, regardless of whether I agree with it or not, in the face of what everyone else in his field is saying or doing."
During Monday night’s coverage of the Dems Convention, Scarborough took it to Keith Olbermann on the air, simply bringing some reality to the convention coverage. Sure, this thing is going swimmingly, but it’s far from over. McCain’s camp is still plugging away, and if we’ve learned anything from 2004, we can’t take any election for granted. Olbermann is just so taken with Obama and clearly biased in his favor, it was nice to see Joe give him a dose of reality. (Yes, I am rather taken with Obama too, but I’m not a professional and I don’t pretend not to be.) Watch for yourself:

Britain finally holds inquiries into tainted blood scandal that killed 1,000 hemophiliacs -- Newsday.com
Read More Here: "PEEBLES, Scotland (AP) _ Robert Mackie trembles with rage when he describes how he and his wife were kept in the dark about his HIV infection — and how doctors published his medical data in journals years before they gave him the devastating news.
Mackie is one of some 5,700 British hemophiliacs who received tainted blood and were infected with HIV, hepatitis or both, in what has been viewed as one of the worst treatment disasters in the history of Britain's heath care system. Nearly a third of those infected have since died.
Tainted blood scandals have been investigated throughout the world — in France, Canada, Japan and elsewhere — leading to some convictions of health officials and many compensation packages for infected hemophiliacs, but there has been no detailed probe in Britain until now. One inquiry under way will likely end in a nonbinding report, while the other is an official investigation by the Scottish government that could lead to charges filed against individuals.
'They used me as a guinea pig,' said Mackie, 58, in his house in Scotland. 'It's just a miracle my wife wasn't infected.'"

The forgotten scandal of the Soviet ape-man - opinion - 20 August 2008 - New Scientist
Read More Here: "In February 1926, Russian biologist Ilia Ivanov set out for Guinea in French West Africa, where he planned to perform one of the world's most sensational experiments. Ivanov was an expert in artificial insemination and had used his ground-breaking methods to create an assortment of hybrid animals. Now he was going to try something even more radical - crossing an ape and a human. His trip to Africa was expensive and its purpose highly questionable, yet the Bolshevik government not only sanctioned it but also financed it at a time when few Russians were allowed to leave the country. Why would so eminent a scientist risk his reputation? And why did the Bolsheviks back him?
IT WAS the story with everything: secret papers, an evil Soviet dictator and a zealous zoologist hell-bent on breeding a creature that was half man, half ape. When details of Ilia Ivanov's attempts to create ..."

John Edwards Scandal Cover-up: Three Carefully-Coordinated Statements? - Blogger News Network
Read More Here: "DBKP took a look at the statements released by John and Elizabeth Edwards, and Edwards’ money man, Fred Baron. Their three statements never mention Edwards’ mistress, Rielle Hunter. Instead, all three refer to her and her child as “mistakes”.
We found some curious features in the press releases of the principals involved. In December, 2007, there were many curious features about the John Edwards’ scandal that excited no curiosity among the Mainstream Media. [Curious Circumstances Excite No Curiosity in the Mainstream Media]
There are curiously-similar features in all three, particularly between John Edwards’ and Baron’s. The two men claim they had not discussed a most important detail with each other: Rielle Hunter and who was paying for her living arrangements.
August 2008 is a completely different ballgame, however.
Let’s take a look at these curious features."

MomLogic :: Britney Attacked by Dad?
Read More Here: "Sienna's mom is pissed. Jo Miller, mother of scandal- clad actress, Sienna Miller, is upset that her daughter is being bashed in the media for presumably breaking up father of four Balthazar Getty's marriage. She told Britain's Daily Express, 'You can't understand how a woman seeing a man who has been separated from his wife for months can cause such a scandal. It is awful, I cannot tell you. You wonder when it is all going to stop.' The actress has been brought to tears by the paparazzi in recent weeks. Which is more of a problem: the paparazzi or her daughter's consistent desire for married men?"

The 34-year-old fashion icon could pocket anything in the region of €24 million to €39 million in the next few years thanks to the expansion of the Topshop chain into the booming Chinese market.
The store's CEO Philip Green has reportedly asked the model to spearhead the launch of Topshop in Shanghai with the collections she designed for the chain, with further plans to open more outlets in Beijing and Hong Kong.
Moss has already bagged almost €4 million by lending her name to the range which was inspired by her own wardrobe, and her bulging bank account was supplemented further when the collection was transferred to Barney's department store in New York last year."

The Associated Press: Spy tales: a TV chef, Oscar winner, JFK adviser
Read More Here: "WASHINGTON (AP) — Where do you look when you want to recruit spies? Just about everywhere, judging from the formerly top-secret records of the World War II agency that became today's CIA.
There was the young woman who became TV chef Julia Child. And labor lawyer Arthur Goldberg who became a Supreme Court justice. And young scholar Arthur Schlesinger who became a presidential adviser.
Not to mention a codes enthusiast who later ran CBS, an Oscar-winning Hollywood director and the sons of Ernest Hemingway and Teddy Roosevelt.
Names and details on nearly 24,000 one-time intelligence workers are included among 750,000 formerly top-secret government records released Thursday by the National Archives. The documents describe a worldwide spy network during World War II managed by the Office of Strategic Services, the intelligence outfit that later became the CIA.
The personnel files, long withheld from the public, provide insights into young agents now known for other careers. For instance, when Julia McWilliams, later the ebullient chef, applied to work for the spy agency, she admitted at least one failing: impulsiveness.
At 28 as an advertising manager at W&J Sloane furniture store in Beverly Hills, Calif., she clashed with new store managers and left her job abruptly."

Who, me, old? Politicians make promises they rarely keep
Read More Here: "Here's how a 79-year-old voter who's never missed an election since age 21 sees a politician: If a man can't keep a vow or promise he made in his church to his wife whom 'he loves very much,' can we expect him to keep a promise he makes to the voters he never saw or has no real personal contact with?
The answer is obvious to me. If you cheat on the one you love and committed to, you sure enough will cheat on me, whom you never met, and only used me to get your job.
The John Edwards scandal is just one more proof in point. My question is simply, 'When are we going to hold politicians' feet to the fire on their so-called promises?'
Please, don't call this a mistake. Mistakes happen when you make a decision not knowing all the facts. You knew the facts here because you have proclaimed often your love of moral laws, and you swore to uphold the civil laws in public office. Now you broke both of them knowingly. Don't call it a mistake — the only mistake here was getting caught."

Abramoff scandal figure helps McCain | lansingstatejournal.com | Lansing State Journal
Read More Here: scandal: "WEST BLOOMFIELD - A political strategist tied to the Jack Abramoff lobbying scandal is helping raise money for John McCain, urging Georgia Republicans to attend a fundraiser for the presidential candidate in Atlanta.

Ralph Reed, former director of the Christian Coalition, touted himself as a member of McCain's 'Victory 2008 Team' in an e-mail that solicited donations on McCain's behalf. The Republican National Committee is hosting the fundraiser set for an Atlanta hotel Aug. 18.
A House investigative committee in 2006 found Reed interceded with the Bush White House to help some of Abramoff's clients. Reed's public relations firm also received $4.2 million from Abramoff to mobilize Christian voters to fight the opening of casinos that could compete with Abramoff's Indian tribe clients."

On Sunday, as I was sitting in my summer cabin in Vermont, completely absorbed in a New York Times story about John Edwards' affair with Rielle Hunter, I began reading a paragraph whose message shot through me like a sudden bolt of electrical current. The story centered on Ms. Hunter's refusal to take a DNA test to determine the paternity of her 5-month-old daughter, but that was not what startled me. It was this: 'Ms. Hunter was born in Fort Lauderdale. Fla., in 1964 as Lisa Druck and moved to New York City in her 20s, becoming part of a Manhattan social scene that included the writer Jay McInerney …'
Here, I jumped up and blurted loudly to my wife, Judy: 'Good God! John Edwards was having sex with the daughter of the guy who taught Tommy Burns how to kill horses by electrocuting them!'
That single line in the newspaper brought back vivid memories of one of the most fascinating stories I ever worked on, a tale that led me to trooping through show-horse barns, talking sotto voce to lawyers and FBI agents, going out of my way to meet sources, including Burns, in various hidden caves, coves and coffee booths."

John Edwards Scandal: Who in the Campaign Was Responsible for the Cover Up? - Blogger News Network
Read More Here: "Who in the John Edwards’ campaign started the cover up of Edwards’ affair with Rielle Hunter? It was an operation that costs millions and involved a web of schemes that are still unraveling. It’s a question the media hasn’t heavily explored, but it has to be on the agenda, now that they’re onto the story.
The cover up began with the erasing of information about Hunter from the Internet; progressed later to moving Hunter from the NYC area to North Carolina within five miles of the Edwards campaign headquarters and setting her up in houses owned by Edwards’ backers; and, at one point involved millionaire trial lawyer, Fred Baron, and the revelations that millions were spent jetting Hunter and Edwards’ campaign operative–and fall guy–across the country to reside in multi-million dollar houses.
Hunter and Young, according to reports, have also been receiving hush money payments to keep their mouths shut.
Who initiated all of this? Where did that money come from?"

Washington Wire - WSJ.com : McCain Says World is Better Off Without Hussein
Read More Here: "At the town hall meetings that John McCain’s campaign considers its hallmark, the candidate always takes questions from the audience. Many of the same topics come up repeatedly, regardless of the time or location of that event. Immigration, healthcare, taxes—all issues audience members reguarly inquire about, and which McCain has a standard answer ready in his arsenal."
Washington Wire - WSJ.com : Liberal Group Will Pay for Dirt on Conservative Groups
Read More Here: "A new liberal group is offering a $100,000 reward for information about conservative political groups that leads to a conviction or fines for breaking campaign finance or tax laws. The liberal organization, Accountable America, was formed to combat conservative donors or organizations who run ads attacking the Democratic Party and its congressional candidates.
“They’re really operating on the assumption that they can remain in the shadows,” Judd Legum, an adviser to the group. “That’s one of the primary ways to accomplish what we’re looking for. If you can shed some light on these organizations and the people who fund them, you’ll end up with a better result.”
The idea is to create a sense of scandal around the groups, said founder Tom Matzzie, recently a key leader of MoveOn.org. “We really want to ask these donors whether they want to be associated with some of these people,” Matzzie said."

Byron York on John Edwards & Natioanl Enquirer on National Review Online
READ MORE HERE: Byron York on John Edwards & Natioanl Enquirer on National Review Online: "‘We’re working off our timetable, not yours,” says David Perel, editor of The National Enquirer. “I’m not letting other media drive the story for us.”
Perel is talking about the issue of whether the Enquirer should have published, by now, photos of a July 22 confrontation in a Los Angeles hotel between its reporters and former Sen. John Edwards. Edwards had, the Enquirer reported, come to the Beverly Hilton to see a woman named Rielle Hunter, with whom he has had an affair and a baby. In an almost surreal scene described on the Enquirer’s website, Edwards was said to have fled to a men’s room, pushing against a door while the reporters pushed and asked questions from the other side."
